Selection guide

The right filter housing is sized with the right data.

1

Fluid and material

What flows through, which material?

Choose AISI 304, 316L, 904L, carbon steel or a special coating according to corrosiveness, chloride content, pH and hygiene class.

2

Flow, pressure and temperature

Under what operating conditions?

Define the line flow rate, operating and design pressure (PN6–PN40), allowable ΔP and temperature limits.

3

Internal element and capacity

Which element will it hold?

Clarify the architecture: cartridge (10"–40"), bag (size 1–4), lenticular module or self-cleaning for continuous flow.

General selection summary. Final suitability must be confirmed against flow rate, pressure, connection size and process conditions.

Questions before choosing a filter housing.

How do I choose between a 304 and a 316L stainless steel filter housing?
AISI 304 is economical and sufficient for standard water, oil, neutral liquids and general industrial lines; however, for chlorides, salt water, aggressive chemicals, acids and processes requiring hygienic standards such as food and pharmaceuticals, AISI 316L should always be chosen for its superior corrosion resistance.
Bag filter housings are preferred on lines with high flow, a high solids load and the need for fast, economical element changes; cartridge filter housings are preferred on polishing and final safety lines that require sub-micron or precise sterile filtration (0.1–10 µm).
It is determined according to engineering standards, based on the plant’s existing piping standard (DIN/ANSI flange, BSP/NPT thread or Tri-Clamp hygienic clamp) and the system’s operating/safety pressure (standard PN6/PN10/PN16 or high-pressure PN25/PN40).
Share the fluid type and its chemical properties, operating flow rate (m³/h or L/min), operating temperature and pressure, maximum allowable pressure loss (ΔP), required internal filter element type (cartridge/bag/basket) and inlet-outlet connection sizes.
