When to replace a cartridge filter: maintenance by differential pressure

A cartridge filter is replaced not by the calendar but by the pressure difference (ΔP) between the inlet and outlet gauges. For melt blown and string-wound cartridges, replacement is typically planned when ΔP reaches 2.0–2.4 bar.

Cartridge filter end caps: DOE, SOE, 222 and 226 explained

Cartridge filters have two main end designs: double open end (DOE) and single open end (SOE). A DOE cartridge seals by compressing its flat gaskets, while an SOE cartridge seals by seating its 215, 222 or 226 O-ring adapter in the housing socket.

Nominal and absolute filtration compared

Cartridge filter|Filtration basics

Nominal vs absolute micron rating: which should you ask for?

A nominal micron rating means the filter retains most particles of that size; for felt bags this is typically 80–95%. An absolute micron rating means almost all particles larger than that size are retained, which requires a membrane with uniform pores.
